Housing Innovation and MBA Awards
Tim O'Brien Homes was recently recognized with awards for our Havenwood Parade Home as well as an award from the U.S. Department of Energy for Housing Innovation for the second year in a row.
Our Net Zero Energy community, Red Fox Crossing, is nearing sellout with just one Ready Home left that is being built in collaboration with The School District of New Berlin High Schools. This community is a first of its kind in our state. We built the entire community to the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready (ZERH) Home Program. Read more about the DOE ZERH Program.
We submitted an Azalea home for the Housing Innovation Award. This home is 5,725 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, with a finished basement. The home received a third-party test to determine a HERS Rating (Home Energy Rating Score) of 25. For a HERS Rating, the lower the number, the more Energy-Efficient the home is. An average HERS for Tim O’Brien Homes is a 48, other new homes average between 80 and 90, while typical existing homes are rated at around 130.
All Tim O’Brien Homes are tested to determine this score. The process also allows us to see areas that may need improvement before our homes are ready for our homeowners to move in. The award-winning home has been calculated to average a $90 monthly energy bill, which is $2,650 of annual savings compared to a typical new home.
Our 2019 Parade of Homes model marked the debut of our new Emerald Collection. The collection features larger overall home footprints and allows homeowners more opportunities to personalize their home.
At the 2019 Metropolitan Builders Association’s Awards Dinner, we received awards for Best Exterior - Design, Best Family Living Area, Best Overall Award - Silver, Best Builder Station Kid’s Choice Award for MBA Career Day, and People’s Choice Best Overall Home! We are very honored to receive these awards and thank everyone who voted for us at this year’s Parade of Homes!
